Logs End in Ottawa is built on the idea that there are a bunch of sunken logs in the Ottawa River just waiting for recovery. The preserved old growth makes for beautiful flooring, and is stronger than regular wood. About 80 per cent of the logs recovered are pine, but the company has pulled up birch, red and white oak in its 11 years. The company also has a zero-waste policy.
