In 2025: HOT
The utilities sector will be hot in 2025, though much like the mining and oil and gas extraction industries, it is a small chunk of the national employment picture (utilities jobs made up only one per cent of all employment in Canada in 2010). During the recession, while there was an over-supply of low-skilled workers in the utilities sector, companies struggled to fill job openings that called for highly trained specialists. By 2025, there should be plenty of work for highly trained utilities workers — the problem might be finding the personnel to fill those positions.
