Gender wage gap: 18.1 per cent

Annual salary, male: $55,110.12
Annual salary, female: $45,155.24

Year-over-year salary data is prone to peaks and swoons, especially since the recession. Even taking this into account, though, there is one troubling trend in Saskatchewan that's left the gender wage gap particularly wide in a high-profile sector. In senior management positions, among the best-compensated jobs in Canada, females actually earned more than men in Saskatchewan during 2009 and 2010. But a seismic drop-off in average salaries from 2010 to 2011 for women ($1,753.04 weekly two years ago to $1,212.09 weekly last year) means that male senior management officers now take home over 36 per cent more than their female counterparts in Saskatchewan.
