A fee for paying your bills
Large banks and telcos often charge customers a nominal fee to receive their bills the old fashioned way: through the mail. But U.S. telecom giant Verizon managed the ultimate faux pas in 2011, when it announced customers would be subject to a $2 charge for paying their bills by phone or online. To Verizon’s clients, this was the ultimate face slap, and people spoke up, decrying what they saw as an unfair fee. Verizon listened, and citing “customer feedback,” withdrew the fee within days.
