Taking back Black

Sometimes shoppers complain with their wallets. Take Black Friday, for instance. For the longest time, Canadian shoppers drove to the U.S. to cash in on Black Friday deals. Canadian retailers noticed the revolt, however silent it was, and decided to do something about it. The result: this past year, in what is sure to be the start of a new tradition, Canadian malls and stores unveiled a litany of “Black Friday” deals on the day after American Thanksgiving, a not-so-subtle bid to take back the shopper who was shunning them in favour of U.S. retailers.
