Peewee sports is big business, with three- and four-year-olds getting registered for hockey, martial arts, gymnastics, soccer and everything else the older kids are doing in the field and at the gym. While most classes veer away from competition, the kids are still learning sports techniques that could lead to athletic stardom.

Emily Lo, mother of a four-year-old boy, has her son enrolled in a Korean martial arts class called Do Jang. Lo lives in Vancouver’s upscale Kerrisdale neighbourhood, and she says Do Jang classes are a hit with a lot of moms looking for physical exercise for their toddlers.
