The reported directive: The EU proposed that the name of the popular snack mix "Bombay Mix" should be renamed to banish the ghost of British colonialism. The English name for the Indian city, Bombay, was replaced in 1996 by the Indian name Mumbai. It was thought that the snack should follow suit.

Is it real? No. The Sun reported this story in 2006 but it later emerged that it had been completely made up to feed the British tabloids.
