European nations dominate this list, beginning here with Germany, the country the Conference Board of Canada figures offers the 10th-best quality of life in the world. Notable about Germany, the board says, is the way is supports its older population (Germany gets an "A" grade when it comes to its elderly poverty rate). It also scores well for its ability to keep citizens safe: Germany has among the best homicide and burglary rates in the world.
