Nowadays, though, priorities are a little different. If you asked today's job seekers what they were looking for in their careers, "stability" might give salary a run for its — er — money for the top sport on many people's list of must-haves.

According to data from Statistics Canada, from 2000-2010 the top five industries for employment growth were construction, professional services, government, natural resources, and finance, insurance and real estate.
