TransForce acquires Quebec trash collector
MONTREAL - TransForce Inc. (TSX:TFI) says its Matrec subsidiary has purchased Veolia Solid Waste Canada for about $25 million.
Veolia has been operating for about 40 years in the Quebec City, Montreal and Beauce regions, where it offers trash collection, disposal, recycling and related services to municipalities and businesses.
Montreal-based TransForce operates a variety of trucking and logistics businesses throughout Canada and the United States.
Matrec is one of several waste management companies within the TransForce group.
Alain Bedard, the chairman, president and chief executive of TransForce, said the transaction will allow Matrec to broaden its service offering and improve its efficiency.
